Cosplaying ( Costumes and such)

Hello to everyone. This is Eric Rodriguez. Just wondering if any of you guys are going to be cosplaying and perhaps give you ideas as to where you can find some costumes and around how much they can cost. As far as I know, I will be cosplaying as Kisame, Earl James as Itachi, TJ Darcy as Gaara, Avory as Kankouro, and Antonia as Temari. Now I do not know the exact cost of our costumes or whatever, but I might borrow my cousins katana or use bandages and a handle to make a samehada. If don't want to waste money for example, buying a real sword, you can either borrow from a friend if they somehow happen to have one, buy a fake one ( plastic or such), or better still, try to create one or such using household items ( maybe a knife), however only if you know what your doing and know it won't fall apart or something and hurt someone.

Just wondering however, can we dress up before or after we get to the hotel? I was sort of planning to Paint myself blue or something with the gill slits at around my cheeks or neck.

Just remember, you don't HAVE to cosplay and if you do, you don't have to be as great as the next Gai (LOL). just have fun and enjoy doing it.

EDIT: Apparently you cannot bring real weapons, but I still encourage you to use household items to make weapons ( not real ones but things like my samehada which will be made out of Styrofoam) or paper kunai or something.

Dress at hotel, no real weapons in Anime Boston.

no real weapons? ok gotcha. Are you sure no real weapons tho? I thought at least some people brought them. but I won't bring any weapons as:

1. No reason to get doc in trouble for something stupid like that.

2. I like not being in jail/not being arrested.

I was actually going to create a samehada using cardboard or Styrofoam and either pain on bandages/draw or actually cover it in bandages.

Does this mean we can't bring guns? :|

As I recall, any sort of weapon or anything you have to go with your costume has to be checked in with security and if it's acceptable they give you a tag that you need to keep on it so that you'll be allowed to carry it through the convention. I've never cosplayed though, so I can't say what this checking is like.

If you want however, you can buy wooden swords. it states in the anime boston weapons policy that as long as they can be peacebound ( put in a sheath so it poses no threat to others), then it is fine. however you can take it out, as long as you don't hurt anyone.
